      Uluwatu Temple

      Uluwatu Temple, Ulu in Balinese mean heart, Watu it’s mean stone. This temple built in 11th century by Javanese priest Empu Kuturan or well known with Empu Raja Kerta. Uluwatu Temple, or Pura Luhur Uluwatu, one of six key temples believed to be Bali’s spiritual pillars, The temple located in south western tip of Peninsula, up to the blue sea cliff approximately 100 meters high, the best place to view of the sunset. in 16 century another Javanese priest Danghyang Nirartha visit this temple and add more building, he retreated to this temple for his final life, when he attained Moksa or freedom. There are a lot of monkey arround the temple.

      GWK Statue

      The Bali attraction GWK Cultural Park, with the Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue, is located in the southern part of Bali island (the limestone plateau of Unggasan Hill, Jimbaran), close to Uluwatu Temple and Dreamland beach where the Cultural Park is an art and culture window of Bali. The statue, Garuda Kencana, is made by the native Balinese artist Nyoman Nuart. Garuda Wisnu Kencana is a name for the Hindu God Wisnu – who rides his mystical half man/half bird companion with the name Garuda. The statue were planned to reach height 172 meters and were made with the mission to become one of 8th the world miracles and 2nd in Indonesia.

      The statue and it’s pedestal will be surrounded by more than 240 hectares cultural park which was once an abandoned and uproductive limestone quarry. Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) symbolizes a harmonious relation between human beings and the natural environment in Bali. The GWK Bali is also meant to be modern renderings for the ancient way of life and religious pilgrimage.

      Bukit Peninsula

      This is a large limestone peninsula which, bar a sliver of land just south of the airport, would be a separate island. It is rugged and dry, and pre-tourist development this was a real backwater of Bali.

      The Bukit (as it is commonly referred to) includes the famous cliff-hanging temple at Uluwatu, a number of Bali’s very best beaches including Balangan, and the top surfing spots on the island. As is so often the case, it was intrepid surfers who really opened up the eyes of the world to this part of the island.

      The two main towns with strong local communities on the Bukit are Pecatu and Ungasan.
